Your passion for classical studies doesn’t have to stay in the classroom with ancient books and maps. You many want to take advantage of our many study travel opportunities.
Experience the beauty of the past by traveling on the “Vanished Civilizations of the Mediterranean” May Seminar, one of the college’s most popular and longest running study abroad programs. From Athens to Rome, we visit the most beautiful archaeological sites the Mediterranean has to offer, places noted for their historical and mythological significance.
You can fulfill your core requirements in our Summer School in Santorini program. Students choose from a rotating offering of courses taught in the beautiful setting of the Greek islands.
The Classical Studies Department also offers an exploration seminar in conjunction with its popular course Classical Mythology in Art and Literature. Spend spring break visiting some of the most famous sites ever trodden by gods and heroes. Many of our majors choose to do semester- or year-long studies abroad, while others still spend their summers working at archaeological digs
On campus you can join Eta Sigma Phi, the national honorary classics society. Society members take field trips and enjoy movie nights and other special activities related to studying the classics. If you’re interested in gaining experience for future careers, you can help organize and run Latin Days, a summer camp for high school students.
