Jim Shepard
Fiction finalist for
"Like You'd Understand, Anyway"
Jim Shepard is the J. Leland Miller Professor of English at Williams College, Williamstown, Mass., where he teaches writing and film. He earned his bachelor's degree from Trinity College in 1978 and his master's degree from Brown University in 1980. His collection of eleven first-person narratives, "Like You'd Understand, Anyway," offers an eclectic view of the human experience. Shepard is the author of six novels and two previous collections of stories. His short fiction has appeared in Harper's, The Paris Review, The Atlantic Monthly and The New Yorker. He is also a contributing film columnist for the magazine The Believer.
