CONCORDIA COLLEGE STUDENT RECEIVES FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP
Allison Schmidt, a senior at Concordia College was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship. Schmidt received the scholarship for an English Teaching Assistantship in Germany. An English literature, history and German major, Schmidt who graduates this spring, spent her junior year studying in Jena, Germany. Schmidt, is the daughter of Helmut and Lori Schmidt, Fargo, N.D.
The Fulbright Program, America’s flagship international educational exchange program, is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Since its establishment in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the Fulbright Program has provided opportunities for more than 100,000 Americans who have studied, taught or researched abroad.
Recipients of Fulbright awards are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.
