ALL-STATE CHOIRS TO PRESENT FREE CONCERT AT CONCORDIA
Concordia College is hosting 250 members of the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) All-State Choirs on campus this week for the All-State Choir summer camp. The three All-State choirs (women’s, men’s and mixed) will perform a free concert at 10:30 a.m., Sat., Aug. 9 in Memorial Auditorium.
The participating students, all incoming high school juniors and seniors, are the most accomplished singers in the state, chosen from the more than 2500 students that auditioned for the seven All-State groups. They are joined by 160 choir directors from around the region for "ACDA Dialogue," a four-day professional development conference that runs in conjunction with the All-State Choir camp. Attendance at this year's ACDA conference is the largest in the organization's history.
Dr. René Clausen, conductor of The Concordia Choir will present a session at the ACDA conference on Friday afternoon. Char Moe is a section coach for the All-State Choirs and several other Concordia alums are also participating.
In addition to the free concert on Saturday, the members of the All-State choirs will sing the National Anthem and during 7th Inning Stretch at the Red Hawks game on Friday night.
