Filling Space - Recent Work by Ross Hilgers
Filling Space presents the recent work of ceramic artist, Ross Hilgers opening Tuesday, Nov. 12 and running through Sunday, Dec. 15. Professor Hilgers enjoys creating clay sculpture that is non-functional, abstract, and focused on mass and form. The lack of function and identifiable subject matter creates greater clarity in his search for unexpected beauty.
Professor Hilgers received a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Ceramics from Fort Hays State University. Following his course work, he taught in Kansas for seven years while creating art and exhibiting frequently in the Kansas City area as well as in juried exhibitions. In 1998, he began teaching Art at Concordia College, teaching Ceramics, Two-Dimensional Foundations, Art and Environmental Activism Capstone, and Inquiry Seminar/Ceramics. As an artist, Professor Hilgers focuses on sculptural ceramics and exhibits with galleries in regional, national, and international juried exhibitions. When not involved in creating or teaching art, his time is devoted to his wife and three children.
PUBLIC RECEPTION: 4-6 PM, Tuesday, November 12
