Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As we start our third full week of classes, we would like to update you about the status of COVID on campus. Since orientation, there have been 16 student cases and nine employee cases reported to the COVID Helpline. The Community Levels for Clay and Cass counties are in the green, or low risk, category. Our resources remain strong, and we are confident in our ability to manage any potential increase in cases with minimal impact to campus.

We want to thank students for supporting our commitment to the school’s health and safety. Whether getting a vaccine/booster before classes began or taking advantage of the on-campus clinic, their actions allow the college to operate as smoothly as possible in this pandemic. A high vaccination rate continues to be our main line of defense in COVID mitigation.

Deadline Extended

The college is extending its deadline to October 14 for students to meet the up to date COVID vaccine requirement. This allows more time for students who reported their healthcare providers were waiting for updated boosters. With the FDA's recent authorization, the CDC has recommended new, bivalent formulations that are more specific to the current viral strain. Those updated vaccines are now available in our region. Clay County Public Health hosts COVID clinics in Moorhead on Wednesdays. Fargo Cass Public Health in Fargo takes appointments on Thursdays. You can find several additional providers at vaccines.gov. You can contact the COVID Helpline with questions at COVID19Helpline@cord.edu or 701.730.8304.

Emails

COVID communication will move from a bi-weekly Cobweb schedule for the semester to an “as needed” basis. We will continue to keep the campus informed of any changes in policy or Community Levels. You can find all our COVID information, including active case numbers, at cord.edu/COVID.

Thank you,
