July 28 Fall Update
Today’s message includes new information about fall sports, medical coordination on campus and our contact tracing team, as well as a clarification on the face covering executive order and a reminder of where to find information as we get closer to our fall return to campus for classes.
MIAC Announcement: The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced today the postponement of competition for cross country, football, soccer and volleyball until spring. Golf and tennis will be permitted to compete in the fall with conference matches only.
On-Campus Medical Professional: The college is adding an on-campus medical professional to assist with health programs implemented because of COVID-19. This new on-campus position (Registered Nurse) was developed in partnership with Sanford Health to assist with health leadership, data tracking and implementing plans for care and monitoring for COVID-19.
Contact Tracing Team: Concordia now has a contact tracing team to serve as a secondary option to Clay County Public Health and the Minnesota Department of Health. Contact tracers connect with people who may have had direct exposure to someone diagnosed with COVID-19. In the event that our public health officials need assistance, college contact tracers may need to do follow-up work with individuals on campus. The Concordia team is being trained through the Johns Hopkins University contact tracing program.
Face Coverings: As indicated last week, face coverings are now required inside all campus buildings in accordance with the Minnesota governor’s executive order. Exceptions to this policy include while you are alone in a personal office or workspace and within your own residence hall room/apartment/townhouse. There are also accommodations for those who are unable to wear masks. For a comprehensive list of exceptions, please refer to the executive order.
