July 8 Update
In early June, President Craft communicated our plans for an in-person return to campus in the fall. The president’s message included important information about academic life, residential living, and campus events. While preparation for the fall term is ongoing, we share with you today the plan for communicating updates from the President’s Cabinet and the Emergency Response Team. This communication plan will begin this week and continue throughout the summer.
It is our intent to communicate with the campus community every two weeks leading into the beginning of the fall term. Additional information will be shared more frequently as necessary. We have heard from members of the college community that they would rather know of steps taken along the way versus waiting to hear when a complete plan is determined. As a result, some communications may be brief while others may be more extensive. Expect to receive regular messages through email as the primary communication channel. Content will also be presented on new Fall Planning/Return to Campus webpages, on CobberNet for students, faculty, and staff, and on ConcordiaCollege.edu for the community. As planning continues, this page will expand and become more detailed with Frequently Asked Questions and information about how we will navigate fall together.
It is also helpful for us to hear your questions. As we move into August, we anticipate a high volume of questions with common themes. While we may not be able to respond to each question individually, we will use those submitted to frame ongoing themes of information addressing a variety of important topics for the fall term. Finally – one update to share today: Dining Services has announced new plans for fall. This plan aligns with our overarching need to physical distance and limit contact in our common spaces. Students received dining plan information recently, which included details of how Dining Services will enhance cleaning, modify serving, and add new flexible offerings in the fall.
New measures include:
- Anderson Commons will briefly close between lunch and dinner for deep cleaning
- All Dining Services locations will be deep cleaned upon closing daily
- Staff will serve meals
- Tables and chairs will be spaced to encourage social distancing
- To-go options will be available daily, including a remote location in East Complex
- Added flexibility for meal swipe usage in retail locations
