Under the direction of President William J. Craft, the President’s Sustainability Council provides overall leadership to sustainability efforts. In 2011, the college hired its first-ever Sustainability Coordinator, and in 2012 the Concordia College Sustainability Vision was affirmed by the administration and faculty.
Concordia provides a rich array of opportunities for students to learn about the sustainability challenges we face and to start honing their skills at coming up with innovative ways of addressing the challenges. Through courses, co-curricular activities, and an array of experiential learning sites, students learn that no matter what their field of interest, they have a special role to play.
In 2014, the college joined the rigorous Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS), submitting its first comprehensive report. While significant progress in reducing the ecological impact of campus operations has been achieved so far, the college is constantly working to do more.
