Degrees for Students
We have two degrees that provide maximum flexibility to you – the student. For those who know they would like to go into finance, you can major in finance. Options include a *CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) track, which is intended to prepare young men and women for the CFA Level One exam. This curriculum covers approximately 70% of the Candidate Bank of Knowledge, as prescribed by CFA institute guidelines. In their junior year, students seeking this degree can apply for the Certificate in Finance. Acceptance into this program gives students credibility as well as an internship and an individually selected mentor. The major has six required finance courses, as well as two electives. Concordia is a participant in the CFA Institute Recognized University Program, which indicates that our curriculum follows closely to professional practice and prepares students for the CFA exams.
For those students who are interested in finance, but as an add-on to an additional degree, the Offutt School offers a business major with a concentration in finance. This degree has two required courses and three electives. Although the requirements are less than the finance major, the concentration is comparable to many finance majors at other four-year institutions.
Want to include an international focus? Every academic year, we offer a one-week Exploration Seminar. During the odd years, we spend a week in Zurich, Switzerland, for the "Business and Commerce in Switzerland" seminar. During the even years, we spend a week in Hong Kong. At these seminars, we meet with UBS, Thomson Reuters, Zurich Insurance, Miller Coors, Intel, Rabobank and Deutsche Bank where students meet business executives, newer employees and interview for summer internships.
