Theatre art majors are required to complete a thesis project; theatre art minors are strongly encouraged to do one, too. Thesis projects may be tied to a Mainstage production, a student-directed production or involve non-production work.
Senior Thesis projects include a wide variety of possibilities, including directing, design, acting, dramaturgy, management, administration and playwriting.
Students work with the faculty and professional staff to establish the scope and guidelines of their project. They undertake an active-learning project tailored to their individual needs and abilities, complete a formal written paper that can be used to demonstrate preparation for graduate education, be able to speak cogently about their abilities and learning and have the opportunity to serve as leaders both on their projects and for the program as a whole.
