Study Abroad Opportunities
Concordia strongly encourages studying abroad, and each language has many abroad programs to offer, both short- and long-term. Students are also encouraged to learn about and apply for various scholarships.
Concordia Language Villages
Concordia has a unique connection with the Concordia Language Villages, 16 language and culture immersion sites in Northern Minnesota. Students can work as staff during the academic year or the summer.
Contact with Professors
Professors are directly involved in all classes, from day one to upper-level courses. They know each and every student throughout their time at Concordia, see their academic development, and help them find opportunities that will fit their interests in whatever academic field they pursue.
Professors travel to countries of their interests on a regular basis, both with students and for research, keeping up with current events in those societies and with the latest trends. They bring their research interests into the classroom, and their excitement about those topics makes for an excellent learning environment.
Native assistants provide opportunities for discussions outside of the classroom and help students learn about other cultures from the perspective of someone their own age.
The large number of international students at Concordia is advantageous for all language-learners, and gives students further insights into different cultures.
Even the food in Dining Services reflects Concordia’s dedication to cultural learning; the “Explore” section features different ethnic foods throughout the year.
