Thanks to your gift, and the gifts of others like you, our Colo-éco project for Lac du Bois, Hackensack met and surpassed the $3500 goal of our recent CobbersGive crowdfunding campaign!
We can’t wait to see our French Hackensack villagers deepening their discovery of the natural world and growing as global citizens and environmental stewards through Colo-éco. The preparations are already underway. Right now, some of our staff are collaborating with a Minnesota ecology expert to draft and translate a curriculum for Colo-éco.
Thanks to your support, we’ll soon begin sourcing French-language field guides and kid-friendly materials for hands-on activities in environmental science. Before the start of our first session, staff will have a new “orientation en écologie” with a visiting environmental specialist. This training will prepare them to share the unique ecology of our site with villageois while drawing connections to ecosystems of la francophonie and the wider world.
Villagers this summer, and for many years to come, will have lots of opportunities to explore the water, land, flora and fauna of Lac du Bois, Hackensack with water-testing materials, microscopes, macroinvertebrate-collecting nets, plant presses, and more! All this has become possible with your support. Thank you again so much for your generous contribution.
