Dr. Polly Kloster and Dr. Gay Rawson have been working, teaching, and traveling together for over ten years. They share a passion for women’s issues, access to healthcare, and cultural diversity. To them, responsible engagement in the world means fostering in themselves and others an awareness of the rich diversity that surrounds us. Hands-on opportunities to interact and learn from neighbors both locally and around the world are hallmarks of their classes and travel seminars.
Dr. Kloster’s research is focused on women’s health issues, complementary and alternative therapies, and faith-community nursing. Dr. Rawson’s primary research examines representations of traditional medical and alternative therapies from 1865 to the present in Francophone literature as a reflection of self and societal developments. The intersections in their research have provided rich collaborations throughout the years, including new course ideas as well as travel seminars from Guadeloupe to Vietnam. These shared passions provide the framework for their travel and learning experiences. They invite you to share your vocation and talents on their next service-learning adventure.
