So you’ve finally made a decision. You’re going to stay in Fargo-Moorhead for the summer. If this is the first time you’re living on your own, it’s a huge step, so congrats! But now comes the next one: finding an internship.
Fargo-Moorhead is full of great companies, startups, and nonprofits that offer awesome internship programs. If you’re not sure where to start looking, here’s my list of the top five places to intern in Fargo-Moorhead:
Now I might be a bit biased because I am an Onsharp intern, but in my opinion Onsharp is one of the best places to intern in town. Not only are you working alongside great professionals, you’re able to work and collaborate to create different projects both internally and for clients. Yes, FOR CLIENTS! They offer two different internships throughout the academic year: digital marketing and development, so if you think you might be a good fit I highly suggest sending in an application.
2. Intelligent InSites
Intelligent InSites is a young, growing healthcare technology company working to improve life by transforming the patient experience. I’ve known at least six different students who have worked at Intelligent InSites and have really enjoyed their time there. They offer a variety of internships from construction project managers to talent interns.
3. Kilbourne Group
The Kilbourne Group works to strengthen and revitalize the downtown Fargo area. Their work has been integral in creating the thriving downtown community we have today! Like Intelligent InSites, the Kilbourne Group has a variety of different intern positions for all types of majors. I highly suggest checking them out.
4. Emerging Prairie
Emerging Prairie is a local startup nonprofit that is helping turn Fargo-Moorhead into a strong and vibrant start up community. From weekly 1 Million Cups events to creating the popular Prairie Den co-working space, Emerging Prairie does a lot for the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the area. They also have a variety of internship positions open throughout the summer and the academic year.
One internship program that I can’t forget to mention is with dogIDs, a local business that sells custom dog ID tags and personalized dog collars online. They have a variety of internships available with a great staff and a wealth of knowledge to share, but that’s not even the best part. They have office dogs! That’s right – while you’re gaining valuable career experience you can be playing alongside a furry friend. It doesn’t get much better than that!
These are just a few of the wide variety of internships offered throughout the entire Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area. If you’re looking for more behind-the-scenes access as to what it’s like interning for some of these companies, head to fargointerns.com and check out our Instagram takeovers. To find more internships to apply for, check out Handshake or follow Fargo Interns on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
