Dr. Hilda P. Koster
Associate Professor, Religion
Dr. Koster teaches courses in Christian Theology and Ethics with an emphasis on Ecological and Feminist/Womanist and Mujerista Theology and Ethics. She holds a BA (Theology) and M.Div. from the University of Groningen (the Netherlands), a Th.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and earned her doctorate from the Divinity School of the University of Chicago. Dr. Koster’s publications on (reformed) theology, eco-feminism and environmental ethics have appeared in Theology Today, The Journal of Religion, Anglican Theological Review, Scriptura, and the edited collection Christian Doctrines for Global Gender Justice (2015). Among her book-length publications are The Gift of Theology: The Contribution of Kathryn Tanner (Minneapolis: Fortress Press, 2015) which she co-edited with Rosemary Carbine and (with Grace Ji-Sun Kim) Planetary Solidarity: Global Women’s Voices on Christian Doctrine and Climate Justice (forthcoming with Fortress Press, spring 2017). Dr. Koster is currently at work on a monograph on Creation and Salvation in Ecological Theology. At Concordia Dr. Koster has directed the Environmental Studies Program (2012-2016) and is involved in campus sustainability initiatives. She is the recipient of the 2012 Omicron Delta Kappa excellence in undergraduate teaching award at Concordia College.
