A passionate educator, Teri Langlie completed her undergraduate degree at Concordia. She believes that this passion was nurtured through the mentorship of Dr. Linda Stoen and Dr. Clark Tufte during that time and hopes to do the same for her students in and outside the classroom. A master’s degree in curriculum and instruction was earned at Minnesota State University Moorhead and a Ph.D. in teacher education at the University of North Dakota.
Striving to instill the love of learning and teaching in her students, she teaches kindergarten education, foundations of literacy, elementary social studies methods, advanced reading methods, as well as assessment and reflection on student teaching practice. Dr. Langlie also enjoys supervising students in their methods and student teaching clinical experiences. Serving as an advisor to students in the Master of Education in world language instruction program and now teaching in the Master of Education program provide additional opportunities to share her passion for teaching. Walking alongside advisees on their Concordia journey is also a professional highlight.
Prior to joining the education department at Concordia, she taught kindergarten, second, and third grades at Dilworth Elementary for 23 years. Dr. Langlie began her work as an adjunct instructor at Concordia in 2008 and was hired full time in 2009. Opportunities to work with SCALE (Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning, and Equity) on the implementation of the edTPA (national teacher assessment portfolio) as a member of the bias and benchmarking teams, as well as a trainer for edTPA scorers and a scoring supervisor through Pearson, provided valuable understanding of the assessment and best practices for teaching that has been used to support Concordia’s education students.
Areas of special interest include meaningful technology integration, assessment, engagement strategies, literacy education, and advising. However, with the constant changes in education, new trends and best practices are of particular interest as well.
In her spare time, she can be found with her family, at the lake, or reading a good book.
