Lucy H. Thrasher
Associate Professor, Voice, Opera Workshop
Soprano Lucy Thrasher has sung leading roles with many regional opera companies and symphony orchestras since she made her professional operatic debut in 1978. Favorite opera roles include Susanna (Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro), Gretel (Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel), Musetta (Puccini's La Boheme) and the title role in Lehar's The Merry Widow. Since apprenticing with Colorado Opera Festival and Sarasota Opera, she has appeared with Midwest Opera Theater, Western Plains Opera, Pine Mountain Music Festival, Quad Cities Mozart Festival, Fargo Moorhead Opera, with over 30 roles to her credit, as well as in recital in Swansea, Wales, London, England, the Twin Cites, and at Concordia College.
Since 1998, she has been the Director of the Resident Opera Artist program for the Pine Mountain Music Festival, where she performed as Desiree in Sondheim's A Little Night Music in the summer of 2012, and previously appeared as soprano soloist in Sibelius' Luonnotar with the Pine Mountain Symphony.
Her CD recording with pianist Stephen Sulich, Cabaret : Songs from Schoenberg to Sondheim, was released in 2007. She is Associate Professor of Voice and Opera Workshop at Concordia College, and lives in Fargo and Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She is a graduate of Concordia College and the University of Colorado, Boulder.
