I am a two-time graduate of the University of Mary, where I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education. My passion for educating the next generation of nurses began early in my career when I had the opportunity to work alongside my first nursing student while practicing as a medical/oncology nurse at St. Alexius in Bismarck, North Dakota. That experience helped me discover that nursing education was not only a career path, but also my vocation.
Before earning my Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Leadership in 2023, I had the privilege of working as an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota, for five years. During my time in critical care, I earned several certifications related to adult critical care nursing and was honored to receive a DAISY Award in 2013.
I currently teach in the Accelerated Nursing Program at Concordia College, where I enjoy supporting students as they develop the knowledge, clinical judgment, and confidence needed to pursue their passion for nursing and serve their communities. As nursing education continues to evolve, I have also had the opportunity to work closely with SimX, a virtual reality (VR) simulation company that uses immersive learning experiences to educate nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, military medics, EMTs, and other healthcare professionals. I especially enjoy exploring how simulation and emerging technologies can create meaningful and engaging learning experiences for future healthcare professionals.
Outside of academia, I enjoy spending time with my supportive husband and our two children. As a family, we enjoy spending time with our church community, playing cooperative board games, watching movies, and making our best attempt at lifting weights at the gym.
