DESCRIPTION:Marissa Carey\, Ph.D.\, is a Senior Research Manager at Medtronic's Energy and Component Center\, where she leads the development of advanced battery and electrochemical technologies for implantable medical devices. During her tenure at Medtronic\, she has served in technical leadership roles including Chief Engineer for Rechargeable Batteries and Senior Principal Scientist\, supporting the development of next-generation energy storage technologies and manufacturing processes. Prior to joining Medtronic\, Marissa worked at Wildcat Discovery Technologies\, where she focused on high-throughput battery materials development and solid-state battery materials research. She earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University and a B.S. in Chemistry from Brown University. In addition to her industry work\, she has served as a proposal review chair for the U.S. Department of Energy's Molecular Foundry and remains actively involved in mentoring\, technical education\, and STEM outreach.
