Joanne (Borseth) Carlson graduated from Concordia College in 1960 with a BA degree in home economics. She is thankful for the excellent liberal arts education she received which not only prepared her for a career in home economics but also prepared her for her role in the church and in society. Joanne taught classes in home economics and English, sometimes as a substitute teacher. She also taught piano lessons during her career. Her family is very interested in promoting education. Her husband, Dale, has a BS, MA, and EdD degrees and was a high school and community college teacher and administrator for his entire career. Daughter, Jolane (Carlson) Churchill, has a bachelor’s degree in medical technology and a master’s degree in science administration and is currently employed in information technology at Atrium Health, Charlotte, North Carolina. Daughter, Danita Carlson, has a bachelor’s degree, Ph.D. degree, MD degree and is an internist at Allina Medical Center – Isles, Minneapolis, MN. Daughter, Denise (Carlson) Thiner, has bachelor’s degrees in psychology and nursing. She currently is the clinical supervisor of Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Clinics in Fargo, North Dakota. It just seemed appropriate that Joanne Carlson and her family should support educational scholarships.
