Established on 11.07.84 by the Hoya Investment Club - Gordon ‘66 & Marilyn ’67 Eid, Dr. Stephen ’66 † & Robbin ’68 Rendahl, Michael ’68 and Linda ‘68 † Dahl, John ’66 & Eileen ’68 Quello, and Dr. Peter ‘67 and Diane ’66 † Setness

Lawyer, Pastor, Doctor, Banker, and Professor - in 1971 these five professionals met together with their spouses (teacher, teacher, teacher, teacher, and teacher) to form the Hoya Investment Club. All Concordia graduates, the lifelong members were: Lawyer Gordon Eid (Marilyn Emery), Pastor John Quello (Eileen Sletten), Professor Stephen Rendahl (Robbin Maves), Doctor Peter Setness (Diane Johnson), and Banker/Investment advisor Mike Dahl (Linda Nelson).

Monthly meetings included a $25 contribution (all we could afford), decisions on investments, and a lot of fun fellowship. Over the years some very successful investments provided dividends of vacations and on our 10th anniversary, an all-expense paid Caribbean Cruise (WITH BALCONIES) for all 5 couples.

Our common ground was membership in the Mondamin - AKX societies at Concordia College, and we all lived in the Twin Cities. Through the past 52 years, we've nurtured 10 children (three of them Cobber graduates) and we would all refer to our friendship as "OUR HOYA FAMILY."

"HOYA" was the weekly battle cry of our society at Concordia and became the chosen name of our club. If you want to discover the meaning of Hoya, you’ll have to find an old Mondamin-AKXer to tell you the story.

Out of appreciation for our Concordia roots, we have established the Hoya Investment Club Endowed Scholarship Fund.  Soli Deo Gloria.

The Hoya Investment Club Endowed Scholarship is awarded by the Office of Financial Aid to one or more students of any class majoring or minoring in any program within the Offutt School of Business.
