This endowed scholarship is in recognition of Dean Olson, who served as director of the Concordia College Television Center for 33 years. Dean was a patient, kind and encouraging mentor to all who worked for the CCTV and participated in Concordia On-Air and other Concordia television productions. Dean's leadership and teaching transformed the lives of hundreds of students. For people on a career track toward journalism or television production, and for those who needed a steady work-study job, the television center was a home away from home.

The Dean M. Olson Endowed Scholarship is awarded by the Financial Aid Committee. Preference is for the students working in the television studio, regardless of major or minor. If no eligible students are identified in a given year, then the scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in communications. First priority should be given to students with demonstrated financial need, with secondary consideration given to scholastic achievement.
