David Uhlir grew up on a farm in the Mahnomen, Minnesota area. He learned the value of hard work at an early age helping with farm activities at home and participating in sports at school. He is the rare combination of an amazingly strong and fierce competitor in athletics and the best kind of person in life.  He chose education as his vocation and was a teacher and coach for over 30 years. He is a great friend, mentor, and role model for those closest to him in addition to those whose lives he touched through school and life. Dave, along with his wife, Jean, are passionate about the value of education and therefore would like this endowment fund to help students interested in a degree in early education.

The David Uhlir ’75 Endowed Scholarship is awarded by the Office of Financial Aid to students majoring in education, with preference for students who are pursuing a degree at the primary or secondary education levels (PreK-12). David Uhlir grew up on a farm in the Mahnomen, Minnesota area.
