David Wee grew up in Detroit Lakes, MN. As a student at Concordia College, he studied mathematics and Spanish and discovered a passion for learning languages and cultures that would lead to a history of working and traveling abroad. That path, however, was not always clear. David chose the name Two Minds to reflect the ambivalence he felt about what should be his academic path and whether he should continue his studies at Concordia. As it turned out, through a curious twist of fate, he ended up with two majors. Drawn to both mathematics and language, a dual academic focus became a gift. The two minds took over and he didn’t have to choose. He was able to follow both paths simultaneously. The math mind led to a rewarding career.  The language mind resulted in great cultural and international experiences. This duality made it possible for him to BREW or Become Responsibly Engaged in the World. In his life, David has been drawn to the duality of our existence. He is grateful for an education that provides the ability to look out at the world around and in to understand oneself.  He appreciates the duality that exists in faith and doubt believing both are positive and necessary.

The Two Minds Endowed Scholarship is awarded by the Office of Financial Aid to a returning student(s) who is uncertain about whether to continue at Concordia due to financial concerns. Selection may also be based on financial need in the event such a student cannot be identified.
