This scholarship is established by Gladys Borstad Callahan-DeRuwe, 1939 graduate of Concordia College, in memory of her sister-in-law, Clara Borstad Wilkins. Clara passed away December 1, 2011 at her home in Spokane, WA with her husband James Colehour Wilkins. Clara graduated with honors from Concordia College in Moorhead where she was Homecoming Queen. After teaching high school in Hankinson, ND, Clara married Arthur O. Borstad and together they raised their three daughters. She returned to teaching in the 1960’s as a biology lab instructor at Concordia College and enjoyed being a member of Concordia Women’s Study Club and C-400. Gladys Borstad Callahan-DeRuwe is establishing this scholarship in gratitude to God and in loving memory of Clara Borstad Wilkins.

The Clara Borstad Wilkins Memorial Endowed Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students by the Office of Financial Aid, with preference given to students who intend to major in Biology or Music. Selection will be based on financial need and scholastic achievement.
