Susie Ekberg Risher ‘82, Michelle (Hapka) Killoran ’01 and Andrea Wagner ’12 were awarded YWCA Cass Clay Women of the Year Awards at the organization’s annual fundraising event April 21.
Ekberg Risher, an author and supporter of the arts, received the award in the Arts and Communications category. Her books “Pink Stars and Angel Wings” and “The Trust Walk” are utilized in counseling centers, churches and clinics throughout the country.
Killoran, chief financial officer and board member at Scheels, was the recipient in the Business category. She was honored by the Scheels organization in 2012 with the Bob Allen/Lloyd Paulsen Community Involvement Award.
Wagner, online designer at Concordia, was honored with the award in the Volunteer Service category for her work with the FM Sheltering Churches project. This year, Wagner served as the project’s communications and marketing coordinator as well as the site coordinator for the sheltering locations of Elim Lutheran and Salem Evangelical Free Church.
In all, 24 women and two businesses were nominated in 12 categories. The awards/dinner event was held at the Holiday Inn, Fargo, N.D.
