Nonfiction authors Evan Osnos and Anand Gopal will headline the 10th annual National Book Awards at Concordia March 26-27.
Osnos is the 2014 National Book Award winner for nonfiction and author of “Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth, and Faith in the New China.” He was the Beijing correspondent for The New Yorker during a period of immense social and economic change and, prior to that, served as the Beijing bureau chief for the Chicago Tribune.
Gopal is a 2014 National Book Award finalist for nonfiction and author of “No Good Men Among the Living: America, the Taliban, and the War through Afghan Eyes.” After moving to Afghanistan in 2008, he served as an Afghanistan correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and The Christian Science Monitor.
The residency will include master classes, presentations, and the evening Readings and Conversations With the Authors hosted by John Ydstie '74, National Public Radio host and correspondent. Harold Augenbraum, executive director of the National Book Foundation, also will attend.
