Concordia Cultural Events Presents Soprani Compagni
The Soprani Compagni ensemble will perform “Portraits of Women in Contemporary Soprano Duet” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, in the Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music.
Lisa Dawson and Tammie Huntington, sopranos, colleagues at Indiana Wesleyan University together with pianist Phoenix Park-Kim formed Soprano Compagni for the express purpose of researching, compiling and performing soprano art song duets, oratorio and opera scenes. The ensemble has performed at numerous universities, concert venues and conferences and had its Carnegie Hall debut in 2012. “Portraits of Women,” a project allowed by a grant to put together 12 award-winning, composers to commission new works, is an expansion of soprano duet repertoire emphasizing the contributions of women in our society who have embraced their true worth and calling, and have dared to change their world.
In celebration of Concordia’s 125th anniversary, the four Cultural Events Series events will be free to all as a special gift from Concordia College. For more information, call the Office of Cultural Events at (218) 299-4366.
