Concordia will prepare you for a lifetime of learning by challenging you to ask questions, seek answers, communicate your knowledge to others, and act as a responsible citizen of a global community. This is the modern picture of a liberally educated person. The Goals for Liberal Learning were written to create a specific vision for liberal arts education at Concordia.
The purpose of Concordia College is to influence the affairs of the world by sending into society thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian life.
Soli Deo Gloria
Concordia’s motto, Soli Deo Gloria, appears in Latin on the college seal. It means “To God Alone the Glory” and is one of the core affirmations of the Lutheran tradition. At Concordia, we show gratitude for God’s grace and to glorify God by doing good work–in the classroom, the performance hall and on the playing field.
The Responsibility and Ethics Statement
To promote integrity and uphold a commitment to a thoughtful and engaged learning community, Concordia makes a conscious effort to foster social and academic responsibility. Concordia’s integrity policies reinforce communal and personal ethics by preparing the individual for a life of leadership and service amidst an evolving global society.
