In recognition of excellence in speech and the potential for outstanding contributions to the Concordia community, the college has established Speech Scholarships. Scholarship amounts for the 2019-20 academic year range from $2,000 to $6,000 per year.

The scholarship deadline for 2020 has passed and the application is currently closed.

Additionally, highly qualified candidates may be named as Paul J. Dovre Forensics Scholars. These awards will be made from the pool of applicants for Speech Scholarships and will utilize the same application process. Dovre Scholar awards are $28,000 per year and may not be combined with any additional Concordia College application, merit- or talent-based scholarships.

Historically, many speech and debate scholars have been strong candidates for top-tier academic scholarships. We strongly encourage all students who are eligible for the Presidential Distinction Scholarship to apply for this top academic scholarship.

To be eligible for a Speech Scholarship, you must be an incoming first-year or transfer student who has been accepted to Concordia College, have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (non-weighted), and have exhibited proficiency in speech. The initial screening includes reviewing the student's forensics résumé.
