Charlene Lien

Char Lien joined the Cobber coaching staff in the summer of 2025.

Lien was a standout coach at Moorhead High School from 1999-2021 where she guided the Spuds to 10 Minnesota State Tournament berths.

Lien took over as the head volleyball coach for the Spuds in Fall 1999. Her first year with the program as an assistant coach was 1983. She was away from the program for one season — 1988 — which she spent as an assistant coach with North Dakota State University. Lien helped guide the Bison to a 43-3 overall record for their highest-ever winning percentage (.935) and a third-place finish at the NCAA Division II national tournament.
