Kerri Westgard, Ph.D., is an adjunct instructor in the education department at Concordia College, where she instructs Methods of Teaching in Social Studies (EDUC 379).
An alumna of Concordia, she is dedicated to preparing future educators with innovative, community-centered, and engaging classroom strategies. In addition to her role at Concordia, she teaches full-time at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (DGF) Middle School. This year, she is pioneering a new interdisciplinary social studies curriculum designed to utilize recently restored native prairie land as an outdoor educational classroom.
Her professional focus centers heavily on experiential learning and global stewardship; notably, she recently received a grant from the West Central Initiative to lead students in planting 11 pocket prairies across the local community during the summer of 2026.
She holds a doctorate in teaching and learning: teacher education from the University of North Dakota, a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a Bachelor of Arts in social studies education from Concordia College.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys traveling in her RV with her husband, Jeff, and their greyhound, Jack. She is also an avid gardener who loves cultivating native plants.
