Kylie Calder-Carriere

Career Coach, School of Arts and Sciences Career Center

Kylie enjoys helping students understand their strengths and skills and apply that knowledge to their career development.

Kylie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre from Bemidji State University, earned credentials for massage therapy at Northland Community and Technical College, and has a Master of Science in educational leadership/student affairs from Minnesota State University Moorhead. In addition to this, Kylie is a Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) through the National Career Development Association.

Kylie admits that when she first started college she had no idea what she wanted to do. She took classes in psychology, environmental science, and elementary education before declaring a major. After college, Kylie worked at the Mixed Blood Theatre and Guthrie Theater where she helped with set building, lighting, and running crew. She has changed careers many times and likes to call herself a “mulitpotentialite,” a person who has a wide range of interests and jobs over one lifetime. She has had roles as a massage therapist, teacher, business owner, marketing representative, theatre grunt and, most importantly, a mom.

What Kylie likes most about her job is working with students. She says, “I treasure the opportunity to empower students so they have the confidence to embrace what life has in store for them. I know what it’s like to not know what you want to do in life. My greatest gains have come in moments of adversity. I know the impact that a community can have on an individual’s success and my greatest pleasure is becoming part of a student’s team.”
