Established on 08.17.2023 by David M. Benson '64 and Peggy J. Nelson '64

The purpose of the David J. Hetland '69 Endowed Fund for the Visual Arts will be to provide funding for the Art Department (independent of the college’s annual operating budget allocation) to underwrite special and/or unique departmental expenses including, but not limited to, funding the cost of artistic workshops, desired art supplies or materials, with primary consideration given to the needs of the recipients of the David J. Hetland ’69 Visual Arts Endowed Scholarship.

Funds in excess of what is needed to supply the scholarship recipient(s) will be used to provide a faculty stipend in recognition of the additional workload that may be required to advise the scholarship recipient. Any funds remaining may be used to fund visiting artists, public talks, and other experiences that benefit the entire Concordia community.

It is the hope of the Donors that Concordia will be able to market these expanded opportunities to prospective students to enhance enrollment at the college.

† - Testamentary endowments may not be contributed to until they are fully established.
