Your ninth grade band students are invited to rehearse and perform with the Concordia College Symphonic Band! Similar to high school honor bands around the region, this experience will provide advanced ninth graders the opportunity to progress their skills and work alongside college students to gain a deeper understanding of the music they perform.

Nomination deadline: April 1, 2024

About the Event:

  • The experience will consist of two rehearsals and a concert performance
    • Rehearsal 1: Monday, April 22 | 4-5 p.m.
    • Rehearsal 2: Saturday, April 27 | 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (lunch included)
    • Concert: Sunday, April 28 | 7 p.m. (call time 5 p.m.)
    • Nominated students must be able to attend all three required dates
  • Students must be nominated by their current band teacher
    • Maximum of two students per instrument; Maximum of seven students per school
      • Exceptions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis — reach out to Peter Haberman (phaberma@cord.edu) if you would like to request an exception
      • If we run into balance issues following nominations, we will reach out to teachers to let them know which students have been chosen
    • Students will be required to complete a registration following nomination
    • All participants are responsible for their own transportation for each rehearsal and the concert (teachers may wish to help coordinate on their students' behalf)
  • Music will be provided in advance so students are able to practice
    • Although the music need not be perfected, some practice is expected to ensure preparedness
    • Participating students must bring their own instrument/accessories (percussionists must bring mallets; instruments will be provided)
