In the News: Longtime Concordia Percussion Conductor to Retire Shortly After 31st Annual Percussion Day

WDAY story about professor Dr. David P. Eyler

After 35 years at Concordia, Dr. David P. Eyler will hold his last Percussion Day, an event that has brought hundreds of area high school students together to perform with students from the three local colleges and artists from around the world.

Eyler is the director of the Concordia Percussion Ensemble and Marimba Choir. He came to Fargo-Moorhead in 1987 to lead the Tri-College percussion program and is retiring at the end of this academic year.

In a story by WDAY-TV’s Kevin Wallevand, Eyler stated the decision to retire was hard to make, saying “… I can’t think about it too much, or I will tear up.”

Alumni from 13 states are flying in for this year’s Percussion Day, which is Saturday, April 1.
