3M’S CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER TO PRESENT AT CONCORDIA

Dr. John Banovetz will present the 2022 Werth Lectures, “From Post-Its to Optically Clear Adhesives: The Science and Stories Behind 3M Adhesives,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in Barry Auditorium, Grant Center; and “Polymers, Pitstops, and People – A Career Journey,” at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, also in Barry Auditorium.

Banovetz, chief technology officer and executive vice president at 3M, leads more than 8,000 scientists who connect 3M’s 51 technology platforms to solve the real-world needs of customers around the world. He has a doctorate in inorganic chemistry from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hamline University.

The Richard G. Werth Lecture in Chemistry is funded by an endowment established by Richard’s wife, Wilma, and their son, Gerald, to exemplify excellence in the teaching of chemistry, and to promote an understanding of the many careers in chemistry. Werth taught at Concordia from 1950 to 1990.

The lectures are free and open to the public. Masks are required.
