Area High schoolers to perform public Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir concerts

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Concordia College is thrilled to once again hold its Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir (MASLC) camp and public concerts.

After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 30 high school students will spend more than a week on campus rehearsing songs for a public concert at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. A freewill offering will be accepted. Community members will also have an opportunity to sing popular hymnal favorites alongside the choir during a Hymn-Sing at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the church. The choir will also be performing at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer, Minn. at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 24.

Founded in 1969, MASLC is regarded as Minnesota’s finest high school summer choir experience. Singers from a three-state region and any faith background were invited to audition. The concept of the choir is based on a belief that the sensitivity and language of music can foster an atmosphere for growth. In addition to rehearsals, students will take part in spiritual reflections, discussions about the meaning of the texts they will be singing, and social activities on campus and in the Fargo-Moorhead community.

“It is a special week of music-making and music-sharing, and we’re excited for them to spend a week on our campus as we work together to reshape this wonderful choir camp experience,” says Dr. Michael Culloton, artistic director for MASLC and director of choral activities at Concordia College.
