CONCORDIA AWARDS FOUR DURING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP EVENT

Concordia’s Celebration of Student Scholarship (COSS) included four awards to students and a faculty member. Award winners were notified via video or by phone.

President William Craft presented the Pamela M. Jolicoeur Endowed Memorial Scholarship award to Tyson Aberle, a sophomore from Aberdeen, S.D., majoring in neuroscience and psychology. The scholarship is awarded to an emerging leader and honors Concordia’s 10th president, who died in 2010.

Senior Sarah Anderson was awarded the Carl B. Ylvisaker Library Exemplary Research Award for her research paper, ”Team Structure and Generation Z: A Prediction for the Future of the Workplace.” Anderson, of Ogilvie, Minn., is majoring in English.

First-year student Zurisaddai Lopez Alfonso, a political science, business, and psychology major from Bloomington, Minn., was awarded the Heidi Frie Memorial Student Success Award. The award is given in honor of Heidi Frie, who served the college for eight years before her death from cancer.

Students have the opportunity to thank faculty mentors by nominating them for the Research Mentor Award for faculty. The award was presented to Dr. Jennifer Sweatman, assistant professor of biology.

COSS is an annual, full-day symposium showcasing undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity in all disciplines. This year it is being held online April 20-May 1 on Concordia’s YouTube Channel and the Senior Art Show is on Facebook. For viewing information visit ConcordiaCollege.edu/academics/research/coss/
