CENTENNIAL SCHOLARS LECTURE MIXES ART WITH FAMILY HISTORY

Chris Mortenson, Concordia College assistant professor of art, will be giving an artist lecture about his recent project, “Before my Feet was Lain,” as part of the Centennial Scholars Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Olin 124.

For this project, Mortenson walked from Pipestone, Minn., to Howard, S.D., following a route his ancestors walked when they first immigrated to this country from Norway. During the walk, he captured a photograph every 30 seconds and amassed a body of 2600 images. This lecture will cover the project from its early conception to the current iteration of 64 photographs currently on display in the Concordia Faculty Art Exhibition held in the Cyrus M. Running Gallery.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
