CONCORDIA RECEIVES GRANT

Concordia College has been selected to receive a NetVUE Vocation across the Academy Grant. The initial grant in the amount of $25,000 is to be used for project activities during the period July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2023.

NetVUE Vocation across the Academy Grants are intended to help colleges and universities develop more effective ways to strengthen the link between the liberal arts and career preparation, and to include faculty members and students in a wide array of academic disciplines and applied fields in the institution’s vocational exploration programs. These awards are made possible by a generous grant to the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) from Lilly Endowment Inc.

If the college successfully raises $25,000 from third-party sources before May 31, 2021, CIC will award an additional $25,000 in support of the project’s activities during its second and third years.

The college will use the funds for the Concordia College Vocation Project that will create, promote, and institutionalize vocational reflection programs in academic departments throughout the campus. The project will focus on three areas: developing a progressive sequence of seminars, workshops, and speakers on vocation for science students; creating vocational exploration seminars and treks for humanities students;  and designing and developing vocational programming and treks specifically for student-athletes bringing in speakers to facilitate meaningful conversations about vocation, life, and work.
