Concordia to Hold Commencement

CONCORDIA COLLEGE TO HOLD COMMENCEMENT

Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., will present approximately 432 Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees and eight Master of Education degrees during commencement at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in Memorial Auditorium.

Dr. Martha C. Nussbaum, Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago, appointed in the Law School and philosophy department, will speak at the ceremony. Nussbaum and John Meslow, retired executive for Medtronic Inc., will receive honorary degrees.

At the University of Chicago, Nussbaum is also an associate in the classics department, the Divinity School and the political science department. She received her B.A. from NYU and M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard. She has taught at Harvard, Brown and Oxford universities. Nussbaum has authored numerous books and edited 21. She has received honorary degrees from 56 colleges and universities around the world.

Meslow has many years of experience operating at the interface of science, medicine and business. He is the founder and program director for the Mayo Innovation Scholars Program and works closely with the graduate faculty and licensing managers at the Mayo Clinic. He is a former member of Concordia’s Board of Regents.

Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering more than 50 majors, including 15 honors majors and 12 preprofessional programs.
