CONCORDIA CULTURAL EVENTS PRESENTS

THE ROSE ENSEMBLE

Concordia College Cultural Events will present The Rose Ensemble “Jerusalem: City of Three Faiths” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music.

Jerusalem: a name that can evoke 3,000 years of human history. The physical city stands as a beacon of profound spirituality for Jews, Christians, and Muslims, but it is also a celestial place for the children of Abraham, rich with symbolism and metaphors. The Rose Ensemble along with guest artist Yair Dala, Iraqi-Jewish musician and composer, will perform a fascinating program featuring Sufi mystical songs, Latin and Byzantine chant, Hebrew cantillation, and spiritual music from across the Arab world.

The ensemble will bring “Jerusalem” to 12 communities in a statewide outreach tour in September. The program was created in collaboration with three Israeli and Palestinian guest artists.

This performance is part of the 2016 Faith, Reason and World Affairs Symposium “American and the Middle East: Local and Global Dimensions.”

In celebration of Concordia’s 125th anniversary, the four Cultural Events Series events will be free to all as a special gift from Concordia College. For more information, call the Office of Cultural Events at (218) 299-4366.
