CONCORDIA HANDS FOR CHANGE

First-year and transfer students at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., will participate in the 24th annual Hands for Change outreach event on Monday, Aug. 28, during new student orientation week. Concordia will send hundreds of volunteers out into the Fargo-Moorhead community to participate in 28 different service projects.

Since 1993, the Hands for Change event has introduced students to their new community. Hands for Change instills the importance of service in relation to the college’s mission statement early on in a student’s college career.

Activities will begin with a send-off ceremony at 8:15 a.m. at the bell tower (rain site Memorial Auditorium). The 2017 Hands for Change coordinator, Madi Wilts, will preside at the opening ceremony with remarks by President William Craft, followed by Mayors Del Rae Williams of Moorhead and Dr. Tim Mahoney of Fargo.
Students will arrive at various service sites at approximately 9:15 a.m. and work until 11:30 a.m. when they will return to campus for lunch. Throughout the afternoon, students will be engaging in conversations and reflection about their service-learning experiences.
