HOMECOMING CONCERT TO FEATURE REUNION CHOIR IN
CELEBRATION OF CLAUSEN RETIREMENT

This year’s Homecoming Concert at Concordia College will be a special celebration of retiring conductor Dr. René Clausen featuring a Choir Reunion with more than 500 singers on stage. The concert, part of Concordia’s annual Homecoming festivities will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, in Memorial Auditorium.

As Concordia welcomes alumni back to campus for "Cobber Pride, Stayin’ Alive,” they’ll gather to perform for the final time under Clausen’s direction. Alumni singers will join the stage for “The King of Love” by Paul J. Christiansen, “Our Father” by Alexandre Gretchaninoff, “Jesus Loves Me” by René Clausen, and as always, they’ll conclude with F. Melius Christiansen’s “Beautiful Savior.”

At the end of the current academic year, Clausen will end 34 years as conductor of The Concordia Choir and artistic director and conductor of the Concordia Christmas Concerts. The name Clausen is renowned by choral musicians, conductors and music lovers alike. His compositions are performed by choirs around the world and his work as a commissioned composer, clinician and guest conductor have taken him from coast to coast. It’s evident by the number of alumni returning for the Reunion Choir that Clausen is a man beloved by generations of Cobbers.
