CONCORDIA MUSIC ENSEMBLE CONCERTS IN OCTOBER

            The Department of Music at Concordia will present four ensemble concerts in October. All are free and open to the public.

2016 Homecoming Concert

6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8

Memorial Auditorium

Performed by The Concordia Orchestra, conducted by the newly appointed conductor Kevin Sütterlin; The Concordia Band, under the direction Dr. Peter Haberman ’97; and The Concordia Choir, conducted by Dr. René Clausen

 

Three Choirs Fall Concert

4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9

Memorial Auditorium

Performed by Kantorei, a mixed choir of first-year students; Cantabile, a choir of female students; and the Chapel Choir, all under the direction of Dr. Michael Culloton ’98

 

High School Honor String Orchestra Concert

1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16

Memorial Auditorium

Performed by regional high school students concluding a weekend of musical activities with guest conductor Victor Yampolsky from Northwestern University, Chicago; and guest composer, Adam Hochstatter ’09, film composer in California, who has been commissioned to write a piece for  this year’s event

 

Jazz Ensemble Concert

7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18

Buxton/Hanson Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music

Performed by Jazz I, conducted by associate professor of music Russell Peterson; Jazz II, conducted by Dr. Peter Knudsvig; and Guitar Ensemble, directed by Eric Martens
