Oslo Chamber Singers to Bring Norwegian Folk, Classical Repertoire to Concordia College

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Concordia College’s Cultural Events will present the Oslo Chamber Choir in concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in the Centrum at Knutson Campus Center.

Founded in 1984, the Oslo Chamber Choir has gained international acclaim for its Norwegian folk music and classical repertoire.

While the singers mainly have backgrounds in classical music, the Oslo Chamber Choir has gained international acclaim for its innovative exploration of Norwegian vocal music tradition. Known for experimentation in expression and genre, the choir also uses improvisation in its concerts, and has brought kveding, a soloist tradition, into the choir format. Individual singers in the Oslo Chamber Choir must be able to sing independently as well as creating music with others.

For more information or to purchase tickets, which cost $22 for adults and $10 for students younger than 18, visit ConcordiaCollege.edu/CulturalEvents or call (218) 299-4366.

The Scandinavian Studies and Heritage Endowed Fund will host a reception in the atrium following the performance.
