SYMPOSIUM TO EXPLORE GENDER AND POWER

Join the Concordia community as we discuss “Power Plays: Why Gender Matters” at this year’s Faith, Reason and World Affairs Symposium Tuesday, Sept. 18-Wednesday, Sept. 19. Most events are held in Memorial Auditorium on the Moorhead, Minn., campus.

Although in 21st-century America it may seem to some as though gender is no longer a pressing issue, beliefs about gender differences continue to influence our daily lives. The symposium will critically examine the ways in which gender and power intersect with other forms of difference. We will unpack relationships between gender and power in a variety of contexts and discuss empowerment and action as we uphold the college’s commitment to engaged citizenship in the world. The Symposium will inspire us to envision and create a world in which all lives are equally respected and valued.

All sessions for the symposium, now in its 32nd year, are free and open to the public. For a complete schedule visit ConcordiaCollege.edu/symposium.

Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering more than 50 majors, including 15 honors majors and 12 preprofessional programs.
