VISITING WRITERS FESTIVAL AT CONCORDIA

The Concordia College English Department will present the Visiting Writers Festival Wednesday, Oct. 12-Friday, Oct. 14, in the Morrie Jones Conference Center, Knutson Campus Center. A public reading will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and a student-moderated panel discussion will be at 9:20 a.m. Friday. Both are free and open to the public.

Each fall, the English Department invites three writers to campus to read their work, conduct master classes, participate in a student-moderated panel discussion about writing and literature, and visit classrooms. The department invites a poet, a writer of fiction, and a nonfiction writer or journalist to participate.

This year’s writers include Peter C. Brown, author of “The Fugitive Wife,” a fictional tale of gold-prospecting Alaska in 1900; Debra Marquart, author of the poetry collection “Small Buried Things” among others and has received numerous awards; and Catherine Watson, founding travel editor for the Star Tribune and its chief travel writer and photographer from 1978-2004.
